Got to work yesterday and the pick-up thermometer showed it was a balmy -16F, but I didn't want to spend the day in the office. Off I went to tighten up some pronghorn winter range shapefiles.:D

Found this guys trying to stay out of the wind.

No lopes here, but they had passed through. Guess I am glad my fence contrator had not finished the gates in this allotment.

Here is a small group of lopes. I think there were about 100 in this group. Largest group of the day was ~375. I did watch two yotes spend about 10 minutes (that I saw) mess with a group of about 150 pronghorn. It was pretty cool. It reminded me of a ball of bait fish being hit by a shark. Some would break away from the group, but no one appreared to be too weak yet and the yotes finally moved on.

Not easy times on the HiLine.

Time to head home. Even the trees seem chilled.

Nice pics Miller. My old man got me a new lens (Canon 55-250mm) for the digital rebel. Haven't had a chance to get outside and use it, but am looking forward to the day.

Good stuff as usual. Thanks for sharing.

Are gates typically left down in the winter? Even antelope-friendly fences aren't very friendly in snow like that.
