Seems like every day, somewhere, more bad news for the Fat-Assed crowd.... Funny, how most of the aTV riders are "responsible", but people just keep banning them....
OFF-ROAD VEHICLES BANNED ON PUBLIC LANDS IN DULUTH, MINNESOTA
A four-month grassroots campaign by Minnesotans for Responsible Recreation paid off on February 2 when the Duluth city council passed an ordinance (7-2) to prohibit ATVs, dirt-bike motorcycles and four-wheel drive trucks on land under jurisdiction of the city. The council also passed a resolution expressing the city's opposition to ATV use on county, state, and federal lands within the city limits, including the North Shore State Trail. Kinda funny how Wyoming is shutting down the ATV riders, but not the Grazers and Drillers. Does this mean the State of Wyoming views Fat-Assed ATV riders with more contempt for damage than Drillers and Ranchers?OFF-ROAD VEHICLE PROBLEMS LEAD TO ROAD CLOSURES ON STATE LANDS
Nearly 8,000 acres of state land near Sheridan, Wyoming will be closed to motorized traffic Jan. 1-July 1 because of problems with off-road vehicles and vandalism. "The closure is to protect the state's resources from further damage," said assistant state land director Jim Whalen. "And during this period we'll be assessing the damage and implementing a reclamation plan."
The state installed two gates last week. One will remain open for foot, horse or mountain bike use and the other will remain closed. Keys have been issued to the sheriff's office and those who need to graze livestock, operate a scoria pit and drill for coalbed methane. Several people have been cited for land damage, including one man who was cited for driving an old car to the top of a hill above a pond and then sending the vehicle racing down the steep slope into the pond. The vehicle sank and oil and gas leaked into the pond, threatening fish and other aquatic life. Sheridan County had to pay a towing company to remove the vehicle.
