Grandma Esther lived to be 97 years old, outliving all her children and was quite a great person for all those years.

I have a goal to have a great elk hunting season - and to figure out if I prefer archery or rifle. I enjoy both - but will probably have to pick one or the other soon. I'd like to get a nice old bull elk - nothing about a big score or any of that BS. But given where I plan to hunt, and other factors/challenges, odds are not that good.

If I have some luck, I'll elaborate on the tie-in to my Grandmother. But don't hold your breath.

I am the grandson of now gone Norwegians from the Dakotas, and they are a warm and loving people, and Esther sounds like she was a wonderful lady.

Alberta Bair, of central MT renown, was reportedly known to bump around in her Cadillac into her early 90's, and put a mule deer in the trunk if he would oblige.

My wife's incredible mom is 97 and going strong. Hope we have her with us many more years, but the odds are against it.
