I got a 200 dollar deal on a new Rem 700 .270 that had been sitting on the shelf for ever. That rust made no one want to buy it.

Now it’s action is off to the builder for the rifle I always wanted to build.

As most here have told you, there are certain guns with certain finishes that will rust regardless. You can either have the gun re-coated or apply a corrosion inhibitor. In an earlier post I linked a multi-year evaluation I did on such products. From my research, Ive found that the best product (from the long list of product I evaluated) for inhibiting corrosion was the WD40 specialist. No other product worked as well at preventing corrosion. Spray it on and wipe it off for normal use or spray it on and leave it for long term storage.

The fastest rusting gun I ever saw was a benelli Super black eagle II. It would literally rust in front of your eyes.
