Is it elk season yet? If the heat and drought we are in doesn't kill me the wifes honey do list will surely make me give up the ghost. Between building new fences to building her a tack room and chicken coop and then building shelves and saddle racks for in the tack room im ready for fall. She tells me it will help keep my mind off elk hunting but it doesn't seem to work. Im ready for 40 degree weather.

Summer heat rant over.

It will drag on untill we figure it's a long way off, then wammo!
Time to go and nothing ready or packed and gotta run around like a wild animal gathering it all up on the last few days.

At least that's what it seems like sometimes.

That's why I started packing two years ago! Ha,Ha

I just decided to not unpack, then i'm always packed.

There's nothing like trying to get into shape for a elk/deer hunt in July in Florida. Ninety plus degree heat and upwards of 90% humidity everyday makes it rough. But, only 13 weeks left!

I would take making sawdust over gardening any day! Any chance of a trade?

I feel your pain !! It seems like my shoe soles are going to melt when I am out walking my 3 miles a day. I try to go in the AM or evening, but it's still miserable.

Last season I hiked thru considerable pain chasing em....so I added an important lightweight titanium item back on April 14. Training has never felt better and the anticipation is sweeter than ever.

10 weeks out. Have to remodel my mom's bathroom and re-side my dads house...while building my chicken coop. I'm ready for my vacation now. Didn't go last year...so yeah. Anticipation is killing me. Just bought a new screen for my GPS this morning as my old one was so scratched up you couldn't see in the sunlight. Gym at 4 am. Work til 5pm....go home and work more til 10.

Come on CPO and LAelkhunter, you know its 110% humidity by 6:00AM and then the mosquito's, yellow flies and horse flies fire up to make a pleasant 3 mile excursion seem like 300.

I have resorted to walking laps in our above ground pool. 5 clockwise then 5 counter clockwise....then repeat 20 times. That way the yellow flies only eat my face.

Get a snorkel with bug screen over the top so they don't torpedo you:rolleyes:

Im ready for elk.....but a long way from being ready for elk. My training seems to be going slower this year....but I don't have as far to go either to reach my goals. Im sure it will all work out. Fall will be here soon. :) Good luck.

105 here today. We don't have the humidity like some of you but when you are wearing FR clothing 105 degrees is brutal. Funny in 6 months it could be a 130 degree temp swing

^this. I Need a new hard hat too, I think mine sprung a leak, awful lot of precipitation coming from in that thing!
