Elk and Fires ?????

How soon is too soon to hunt a burn? My elk unit is on fire right now, and I have heard several people say it will be Great hunting in the burn by Oct and then my smokejumper buddies are telling me it will be a waste of time anyone ever hunted a recent burn?? Thanks MC

My best bull came from Unit 39 in 1996 a couple months after it burned. Saw a lot of elk in and around the patchwork burns. The real hot blanket burn areas were very sterile.
