Springsteen Helps Edwards Woo 'Losers, Whores and Gamblers'
"Happy days are here again: All right, music lovers, it's time once again to tap your toes to your favorite candidate's theme song. But beware, pols of America: You'll want to be more careful in selecting your tune than John Edwards was."
Story Continues Below
["Yes, it's time for the latest installment in our occasional series "Things John Edwards Did That Most Media Ignore but Would Have Ridiculed Dan Quayle for Doing."
Bruce Springsteen, one of the singing multimillionaires who is shilling for the Democrat presidential ticket, pitched a hissy fit when Ronald Reagan quoted from "Born in the U.S.A.," though now he's letting the Democrat nominees use two of his ditties for their themes. Yet what unfortunate choices.
A tip of the hat to our local paper, the liberal Palm Beach Post, which so far is the only media outlet we've seen to point out the embarrassing lyrics.
Edwards' pick, "Land of Hope and Dreams," includes these lines: "This train carries losers and winners/This train carries whores and gamblers."
Senator, what in the world is going on aboard that campaign train?
And what of John Kerry’s song, "No Surrender"? It includes this unintended slap at the unions and Democrats that have intentionally dumbed down America's government school monopolies for decades to create a class of dependent and stupid voters:
"Well, we busted out of class/Had to get away from those fools/We learned more from a three-minute record, baby/Than we ever learned in school."
Considering how much Kerry and Edwards have been photographed touching each other and gazing adoringly into each other's eyes, perhaps they should borrow a line from Springsteen’s best-known song: "tramps like us, baby we born to run."]
