Missed this in my limited fall HT viewings this fall. I really enjoyed the read and the pics. A true MT goat hunt with a few G-bear tracks to boot.....nice to see an experienced, not old, hunter make the most of the hunt after beating the odds once again. Congrats!
Mountain goat hunt had to be the pinnacle of my hunting career. Took an 8” plus Billy in the Cabinets. Kicked my 62 year old butt. Was worth every minute of effort. MTG
Great write up and congrats on your "easy" goat hunt.
The day I shot my goat it was -5* F when I when I started up the mountain and the snow was over my knees when I got to almost the top where my goat was.
I completely skinned him out, put his hide in my pack and dragged his carcass out.
In the following years 3 of my friends drew goat tags in that unit and they all shot their billies in the valley bottom less than 1/2 mile from the road. Those were easy hunts!
