I was fortunate enough to draw a good early season tag this year. I spent 9 days total to kill this buck. I spent 4 days before the season opened scouting, then a 2 day trip (cut short early due to weather) then a final 3 day trip. He was probably the 3rd or 4th best buck I laid eyes on and it was a last day kill. I think I saw roughly 45 bucks (several 2 points that could have been repeats) and 1 or 2 wall hangers that I just couldnt make happen. I scored him at 145 5/8". Usually I am not big on score but the mass on this guy was pretty impressive, I needed some closure ;-). Best part is, I slept in a deer bed in a saddle on Saturday night, woke up and glassed him from my bivy at about 400 yards. 1 Shot from my Tikka T3 7mm and the rest was history. 4.5 mile pack back to my truck.
