Got a text from one of my best buds tonight, his younger brother was killed by a (suspected) drunk driver who also fled the scene.

My heart breaks for my bud & his family.

I've shed a few tears tonight and I'm keeping the family in my prayers.

Just had to say it somewhere.

Prayers to the family. It is so sad that drunk driving is not dealt with more harshly than it is.

Sorry to hear it.

2 1/2 years ago a repeat offender nearly killed my wife, when he drove his Chevy Suburban into my 120lb wife while she was in a crosswalk.

Dude did 28 days, and it didn't cost him a penny. He had no insurance and doesn't own anything we could go after.

My wife's still recovering.

Thanks guys, send your prayers to my buddy Michael. His brother was riding his bicycle.

Dustin, that's just crazy. My buddy here in CO had a similar situation only his wife was in a car and the dd blew through a 4 way stop sign. Not his first offense, sadly probably not his last.

Terrible, sorry for your and the families loss.

There's a push up here to make drunk driving fatalities considered murder. We'll see how far it goes. Two young teenage girls were killed last summer. They were run over while walking down the sidewalk. The drunk is awaiting trial for 2nd degree murder x2. Happened mid day after he left a golf tourney.

I'd be alright with that. I've had two friends killed by drunk drivers, the penalties were lenient in both cases. I think first time offenders should get the book thrown at them. Repeat offenders should face considerable jail time. Sorry for everyone's loss.

Sorry for the loss, and prayers go out to the family and friends. People get very stupid when they have been drinking and think it would never happen to them. The penalties need to be more severe.

alcohol should be priced the same way tobacco was. Maybe that would cut down on the stupidity.Oh, I forgot, "It's a sickness"

Prayers sent to your buddy and family!!!Honestly, I use to be one of those idiots, but thankfully gave up drinking 10 years ago.Things like this always make me wonder how much different my life could have been if I didn't quit
hughes, I agree with you.Its no sickness!!!!!Its a choice people make to continue drinking or using drugs for that matter.I use to drink heavy but quit cold turkey.Rehabs love to use the word disease but its not!!!that's their way of getting repeat business, and excusing people of being too weak.its truly mind over matter
I do believe the sentences should be more strict.First offense here in Pa is a weekend in jail and year suspension of your license.Minimum I believe should be 3 months 1st time then start year loss of license when you get out not during.Hit them hard the 1st time and hopefully there won't be any 2nd.
Again,i hope your friend and family gets the strength needed to deal with this.

I talked to my bud today, he's doing OK considering.

His brother, Matt, was a soccer player and refereed games. My bud and 34 friend/family got together at an English restaurant and watched a soccer match in his honor.

It's seems we've all been affected in one way or another. Hopefully we all stop someone from changing another families life the next time we have the opportunity.
