Drew first NM elk tag, Unit 45 for late October!!!

Have been watching Randy's e-scouting series and started familiarizing myself with using the application and unit 45. Can anyone who's hunted this area give any guidance or share an experience from hunting this area? I am beyond excited and eternally grateful for the chance to harvest a bull!

I hunt 45 every year for elk or mule deer. That should be a great hunt. Any idea where you plan to park and hike or are you planning to use an outfitter?

I'll be coming in from the Pecos area. I have a friend who guides in that area so unsure where we'll go in from. I have been studying the area on OnX, working my way to the Hamilton Mesa looks like it could be promising.
