Rookie western hunter here, and to make things even more difficult, I’m a late bloomer (42). Have my first elk hunt in 3rd rifle Colorado this year. Last year I only hunted my home state but bought a point in Wyoming for elk and deer for my son and myself. I also am planning on Arizona OTC archery deer in January so I already have my license for the fall draw for elk and deer. Looking at a rotation of Arizona and Wyoming every few years for points (non-trophy units to make sure we don’t have long gaps between hunts) using Colorado OTC as the backup (or additional if the money and vacation line up...). My son is 12 so I figure it’s great for him to start early.
Does this sound like a good plan or does anyone have any suggestions to improve it. Idaho and Montana were on the list but drive time gets heavy since we are in east Texas.
