Dove hunting ban

There has been a bill intorduced in the California Assembly to ban white wing and mourning dove hunting. I wrote to my Assemblymen and State Senators, and was pleased to hear back from them that they feel that these decisions should be made by our game management professionals and not by some concept of what might be politically popular at any given moment.

A pleasant shock, but then again, they represent a more conservative area in Orange County than other state legislators.

Cetrtainly that is the case, Tom. And further down the line (pun accidental) is the goal to eliminate fishing, as it is cruel, too. Then dairy farming and meat production... one step at a time is how any journey is accomplished.

But Paredes said the first time doves were used as an international symbol for peace was at the 1936 Berlin Olympics presided over by Adolph Hitler.

How would the dove hunting hold up if it was on a state wide ballot?

Here in Ohio we had such a ballot and the dove hunting was approved by 60% of the voters during that election. I wasnt hunting at that time but I voted for the dove hunting to continue because I wasnt agreeable to the touchy feely crap.
