Anybody have experience with them? They have a system with a drop loop that looks good for carrying whike wearing a pack. mtmuley

I got one for my .357 as well. Very solid quality. Didn't really like the feel of the drop loop, but still use it without that "attachment".

Trying to find something that works with a pack waist belt yet still is hip carry. Not really interested in the drop leg. And I don't want to attach to the pack belt. With my .357 I just dealt with it. Hoping to set up the Glock differently. Thanks guys. mtmuley

I ended up settling in on 10mm in chest holster when carrying pack. Will also use .357 without the drop loop when not using waistbelt pack. The loop is a good idea, but in practice with my body shape and pack it didn't feel right. FWIW - I also have a relatively smallish/minimalist leather holster for the .357 I have used on the webbing of pack waist belt - that was workable.

I don't want a chest rig as my binoculars are there. Maybe I want what isn't available. mtmuley

I set up my pack waist belt for cross draw. The obvious downside is when the pack comes off, so does the gun.

Mtmuley: If you want something specific, reach out to my brother. Everything he makes is custom, and he could do something specific for you.
He has built stuff custom for me for two different 44 magnums. If you can think it, he can probably help you with it.
http://www.burdettecustomholsters.com/ is his site. He is also on FB and IG.
If you need additional contact information, PM me and I will hook you up.

Thank you. I definitely will. I need to load the pack and figure out where I want the gun. I will be in touch with him. mtmuley

As far as Diamond Leather goes, I’ve had one for my 454 that I’ve carried guiding for right at 20 years. Pretty good service life.

I ordered a Diamond D Guides Choice chest holster for my 5” S&W 460 a couple months before my Wyoming moose hunt. It didn’t get in until a couple of days before I left for the hunt so there wasn’t any time to play with it. The holster was super comfortable but my bino pouch interfered with my draw.

When it got to crunch time, I elected not to chance spooking my bull trying to draw the 460. One big jump and he would have disappeared into a sea of 10 foot+ tall willows. Luckily, I also had a rifle chambered in 300 RUM, the deadliest cartridge known to man, and he didn’t go anywhere. Since then, I have switched the shoulder strap end for end and I think the revolver will ride to the side of the bino pouch.

I have the chest holster for a .454 Casull w/ 7.5" barrel. It's adjustable where I can wear it with my bino harness, but it's not ideal. I will say the build quality is excellent and customer service are excellent.

I have a chest holster that sits below my Alaska guide creations bino holster. Works well for me.

Point of clarification. I have a .357 with 6 in barrel and .44mag with 4 in barrel. Longer barrels may not work as well with this set up.

I have my leather custom made. For my bear defense gun I have one that drops bellow the belt about 2.5” and let’s the pack do it’s thing. Nixon leather in NE does my work.

Also attached a bandolier pic. He made this for a client of mine. That would also be out of the way.

View attachment 185919Just weaved my waist belt strap through the holster . Worked great .
I carried a variety of 44s like that (but crossdraw) for years. I then got a new Kifaru frame that only has molle on the waistbelt and that makes attachment of a regular leather or nylon holster challenging. My friend recently gave me an adapter that might make it work again.

I have never carried a handgun, but I wonder if using a cotton carrier (like the FreshTracks photographers use to carry SLR and video) attachments would make it super easy to attach your holster to your pack and when removing your pack switch effortlessly to a pants belt attachment.
