Common Sense and the Law ?

How in any stretch of the imagination could you mistake a man's leg for a bull elk?

Know your target and beyond .... bow, rifle, pistol, slingshot, pea shooter, spit wad or whatever!

Few years back a guy shot a mans horse right out from under him thinking it was a whitetail. I cannot comprehend.

There's an idiot born every minute. And a LOT of people on drugs/alcohol.

Sad stuff. How does anyone pull the trigger without making sure of there target. Accidently killing someone, in this way, would be an absolute nightmare, which makes me pretty paranoid and extra careful while hunting.

Here in Pa. they are called HRSI - Hunting-Related Shooting Incidents.

BULL....it's not an incident, it's someone not positively identifying their target.

My dad had the unfortunate responsibility of getting his friend to the hospital after he was shot in the face while turkey hunting. He had 11 #6 pellets from his shoulders to his forehead. One pellet missed the jugular by about a quarter inch another deflected off of his eye orbital, narrowly missing blinding him in that eye. He was extremely lucky. I think if the shooter was using #4 shot, there could have been a fatality instead of just injury. The shooter just shot at the movement as my dads friend was setting up against a tree. There are some awful dumb people out in the woods nowadays.

He's lucky it didn't hit a artery.
Are you certain it didn't. They had to apply a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. You are correct ... he was lucky.

I still say the shooter was foolish, unsafe and careless. 'Wonder if he ever had a hunter safety class.
