Does anyone know if there is any meaning to the various colors of ear tags on Colorado bears? The interwebs lead one to believe that white tags were orphaned bears. Saw one this summer with green tags and one last summer with yellow tags. The fella at the CPW office desk wasn't sure, he thought they used different colors by years simply depending on what color the state bought that year. Anyone know for sure?

Yellow means the have been relocated. If I remember correctly. I've had a few with yellow tags roaming our property. Pretty sure that's what cpw told me

Thanks, all.

They always go for the bad boys. I'll see if I can remove this criminal from the gene pool! They had the whole forest, not sure why they picked in front of my camera.

I have 2 problem bears in my neighborhood, one has been shot at to scare it off and it just went to the next neighbors home. The other bear is a large one that I am pretty sure my cattle ran it off the property - I have the goofiest group of steers. If any wildlife(deer/elk) comes near the mineral licks they start heading that way and the whole damm herd takes off running. It is too funny to watch - the deer and elk run off like they are being shot at.
I got my bear tag just to remove one of these if they stick around for a few more days until the season opens. I am not sure how successful it is to relocate some of these bears in CO where they would actually stay away from humans. I need to go check the scrub oak to see how the acorns are doing. You would think the bears would be in pretty good shape as the vegetation is still somewhat green and tall in my area this year.
