Trying to narrow down where I am going to hunt in early September and wanted to see if anyone might have any insight on unit 47. I live in Alabama and have young children so getting out there to do scouting is tough. From my research so far it looks like the area I'm going to be hunting has gotten a bad wrap because of the increase in recreational use (for good reason I'm sure) but at the same time there is a lot of country here and I'm sure there are places that hold elk if you are willing to work for it. My main questions are where to access the Williams Mountains (Northern or Southern Trail heads) and will I be able to hike away from people/outfitters camps. There is definitely good looking habitat in the area I'm looking and some of it looks like it would be difficult to get too (which is a good thing) but Ive also only been able to gather this information through OnX, Google Maps, etc... Any guidance or information you might have would be appreciated! Thanks!
