CO License Fee Increase

The funding of the Wildlife side of Parks and Wildlife in CO is a topical subject of conversation at CPW as they are now known.

A five dollar fee increase is only a signal of unease and of things to come.

Parks doesn't pay it's way, resident hunter numbers are on the increase but as of now out of state hunter licenses are the bread and butter and everyone recognises that depending on such a fickle revenue stream is not healthy. New revenue sources are all the talk of late.

Objective A |
Identify potential new and broader sources of funding.
Strategies
1. Implement Commission and Department of Natural Resources (DNR)
fiscal recommendations.
2. Investigate fiscally sound and sustainable alternative income sources.
3. Garner support from public, private, and government entities on financial
sustainability initiatives.
4. Improve purchasing and donation processes.

I'd just as soon see NR tags cost about the same as Resident. Fund things some other way. Why should out of state hunting be limited to the fairly well off. I just don't think it's a good way to make money. I don't like seeing hunting as a business and I would rather CPW be beholding to in state revenue. They've also played with the tag dates and duration to generate the most money. Success rates are kind of dismal some places. I'd hate to see elk hunting in CO become a thing for the well off or retired.

Five dollars times the four or so tags I buy is still irrelevant, the funding of CPW and an affordable tag for out of staters is what gets my attention.

I wonder of the out of state elk hunters that harvest what the percent of self guided is.

I have not found the time today to post on this subject, but let me just say that the $5 referred to in the OP is the annual nonresident increase. Something else is going to be proposed for residents.

Proposed resident increase is 25 cents and an Oreo...

All kidding aside, ide pay 5 bucks extra. Life is short, im not going to get pissed and try to boycott the state over a five dollar bill. Plus, Colorado has too good of Mule Deer hunting to not put in every year.

I'll pay it- give me back my 80-20 tag allocations that was denied. Sneakem, sometimes you impress me with your intellect... sometimes.
