I heard a rumor that land owner tags would be dropping from 15% to 10% in Colorado. Can anyone verify this or provide any documentation/links to support it?

I hope you are right. The last thing I remember reading seemed like it was going up to 25% in some areas depending on East/West of the highway.

West of I-25 will be 20% of tag quota split 50/50 between vouchers good unit wide and those good for private land only

East of I-25 will be 25% of quota with 15% good anywhere and 10% for self & family

Yep, the CPW snuck this one in pretty good under the disguise of "fixing the voucher problem". The Voucher review committee was a rigged deck of cards to begin with.

There are always ways around the law. I seriously doubt that brokers will be out of business, especially given the LO tags went up in percent.

The bill specifically states:

Prohibits “brokering” of vouchers by allowing vouchers to be transferred only by the participating landowner or their land manager.

How would they get around this? Maybe become "land managers"?

The way they do it right now. The buyer purchases from the LO and receives the tag, the buyer also pays the "broker" a trespass fee. The "broker" simply facilitates the purchase between LO and Hunter, but gets his fees "other" ways...

That law is already in place, yet I see tags on craigslist come September. And not from the LO.

Gotcha, so I guess all the broker would really have to do is facilitate a meeting between the buyer and a landowner, and then, of course, collect his fee. So really it doesn't change anything accept take another 5% of the tags away from the common man.

I was trying to keep an open mind until I fully understood the law. My verdict is its BS....

I just threw up a little in my mouth. :( So glad that these public resources are being bartered to the benefit of the poor, poor land owners :/

Not all landowners that get them are abusing them, last year I had 9 or 10 vouchers both deer & antelope given to me and all but two Doe deer vouchers went into my shredder. The buck deer vouchers were going for $3000 online, but I was told that I just had to pay the $3.00 application fee for them.

Now if you count how much I've spent in gas & time to make all my landowner relationships, then the moneys adds up, but farmers are some of the best folks I know. Some have become good friends that I talk to year round now. They invite my family & I to come out for visits other than hunting season. Last year while deer hunting my son & I spent all day in a combine, now that was fun!

But the resources aren't being bartered with RFW?
