I know right? At least it'll get a lot of use. The mill makes quick work of cleaning up bedding jobs.Man, he’s got a bunch of high maintenance clients!!! Needing to make a specific jig and all…
That's the point!OK, now I'm following along. Why do I feel like this is going to cost me some money!?!?!
What did you just call me!?So cool to see the jig in action.
I see what you did there!!!That's the point!
Same here but I wish I'd have done it earlier and saved myself tens of thousands in factory guns that don't get used...First time I’ve ever been one of the cool kids!!!
Sell them to fund more builds.Same here but I wish I'd have done it earlier and saved myself tens of thousands in factory guns that don't get used...
You have some first class customers , good for you .Got the barrel cut to length, crowned, and threaded 5/8-24 3A. Screwed on and timed the APA brake. Double checked that the barrel bore was concentric and then bored out the muzzle brake to .328". Tapered the back end of the brake and blended it with the barrel. Added a small chamfer to the front. APA left a hard corner there for some reason.
I also cut a stub gauge with the length of barrel I cut off. They're pretty handy for reloading.
I've got a little bit of body work left to do on the stock to have it paint ready. The barreled action is ready for it's new engraving then it'll get a fresh bead blast finish.
Starting to look like a rifle!

Love the attention to detail!Spent most of the day cleaning up the shop, managed to get some laser work done.
Since I recut the receiver threads I engraved the new size on the bottom.
I added a witness mark to the bottom of the muzzle brake to aid in getting it oriented correctly after any future removal.

I like jeweled bolts better than fluted. mtmuleySome things don't photograph well. Jewelling is one of them.
Also added an aftermarket knob. View attachment 283347View attachment 283348View attachment 283349View attachment 283350
It is a more classic look.I like jeweled bolts better than fluted. mtmuley
I don't want a bunch of debris in my bolt. Seems like the flutes would collect it. mtmuleyIt is a more classic look.
Same pattern on a breach block? Some things don't photograph well. Jewelling is one of them.
