After 10 years I drew a chance to hunt tule elk here in Kalistan. This was a unique hunt as the season was initially to be only 7 days starting the week of Thanksgiving. Luckily they added a few days to the hunt, and I ended up needing them getting this pretty girl to come home with me on day 8 of 9, of which I hunted 6 (I took Thanksgiving and the day after to spend time with my kiddos).

I got my oldest there the first two days but was solo the remainder. I was within 100yds everyday but never got an opportunity until it all went down. Hunting a herd of 50 cows made sneaking tough...

The biologist estimated her to be 8 years old and she went #265 field dressed on their scale.

Congrats! Ive been putting in for a Tule hunt for many years as well but still no luck. Maybe sometime in the next 40 years

Thanks guys, waiting 10 years to draw a cow archery tag seems silly, but I see these animals often and didn't figure I had a chance at a bull (except the random tag), but now that I have the species, I can draw that bull random tag next year! Her ivories are pretty and I will do something cool with them for sure!

805bowhunter, I have the same area code...

Cool BC!
That is some achievement stalking a Tule cow with a bow in that open country.
I know mine was tough with a rifle.
Was that a La Panza tag?

Cool. Put in a lot of days @ FHL & Roberts.
I used to stalk pigs, turkeys & deer, with elk in the way, when the Army didn't add to the mix.
