Buzz, Where's the ATV??

I think he just keeps his ATV out of the stories and pictures. :D

And in the last picture, it is clear to see that he was on a fenced turkey hunt. ;)

The man sure does seem to know his chit. Seems to do quite well every year. WTG Buzz. :)

Methinks I just heard the sound of lips slapping ass??? ;)

...just fuggin with ya Ith...Buzz has had a darn good season, its amazing the time that could be spent afield when you aren't shuttling resource gobblers to and fro....

My question for Buzz is, do you eat all this meat in one year? The Lewis and Clark Expedition didn't eat that much meat. Personally I only shoot what I can eat. I eat game on average of 3 nights a week and an elk and deer will take care of my wife and I for a year. I sure hope this meat doesn't go to waste.

BHR, when you bone them out in the field, you just don't get as much out of an animal, so you have to kill more.

Good one ranger SMALLS. LMAO ;) :D :D :D :D

smalls, Whatsamatter? Don't you want to see what can be accomplished without an ATV? Buzz even gets accused of being a tree hugging, PETA joining, Birkenstock wearing, liberal do-gooder, anti-hunter environmentalist. I just thought everyone might enjoy seeing some of the game he got this Fall. Not bad, huh? Maybe I should post links to his fishing pictures, too. He gets some huge salmon and steelhead! :D

Come on guys. You may disagree with Buzz on every issue on this board, but to bash him on having an amazing season is pathetic. If you read about his '04 hunts it is obvious that he worked his ass off and harvested some great animals. Niether of you can take that away from him and you look childish for trying. Keep fighting on the other issues, but leave this one alone. |oo

Ithaca,

I learned everything I know about hunting from PETA meetings, and the birkenstocks arent bad footwear for early season hunts...actually though, I prefer the durability of Teva's much better.

BHR, I'm not selfish, I prefer to share with my buddies who help me out and with friends who dont hunt or arent as successful. But, you can be assured that not a scrap of what I kill ever goes to waste. In fact, my neighbor, who has a large family and was unsuccessful on elk this year, is about to get himself a late-season Wyoming cow elk in January...

Ten beers, you're a clown, I'm sorry you've never learned how to properly bone an animal without wasting meat...and I'm also sorry you've never learned what its like to hunt on foot.

MTMILLER, I am staunchly opposed to the practice of "boning out" game on the mountain. I have no proof that BUZZ practices it, hence the  symbol (rolling eyes, humor, HA HA HAA, you know). I did find humor in SMALLS post about IT (hence, again the ;) :D :D :D :D ). Nothing I posted is aimed at bringing BUZZ down (BUZZ knows better then that), unless he wants to take credit for leaving meat on the hill by "boning out" his game.

BTW, I have seen more whole game carcasses (with meat left on them) at the dumpster sites around here then I ever have before. People seem to be killing animals this year, but not processing them very well. That practice MAY soon become my #1 peeve. :BLEEP: :MAD :MAD :BLEEP:

Hey Ten Brews,

Why on Earth is it better to do your trimming/cutting in your kitchen than on the Mountain? I'm sorry, but I don't eat gristle, so why not leave the tendons, bones, and other parts for the Wolves, Eagles, and Bears??? Why fill up a dumpster with garbage, when, if left on the Mountain, it becomes part of the "circle of life"?

Buzz,

I'm glad to hear that all your animals go to good use. Congrats! However I still can recall a thread where you and IT were ripping on an old man for bringing home his legal limit of trout daily. I believe he gave some of the fish away to freinds as well. I don't see any difference between what you have done this season and what the old man did. Do you?

Ten beers,

If you're definition of wasting game meat varies from the legal definitions...then Yes I'll admit that I dont take the stomach, liver, heart, kidneys, spinal cord, brain, tongue, and I typically dont crack the bones for the marrow. I also dont care for the fat, I dont take the hide, except for the capes (which I sell or use for mounts), the hooves arent of much value either.

So, if you're definition of wanton waste is leaving that type of stuff, I'm as guilty as hell, but the various G&F agencies will disagree with you.

What I do take is all the meat from the hind quarters, the backstraps, the rib meat, the boney shank, the front shoulders, all the neck meat, tenderloins...which leaves you with the other stuff I described. I bone them in the field exactly the same way I do it when I'm butchering them at home. Whats left is probably better utilized by the various predators, birds of prey, etc. and I'd rather they use that stuff, than have a flock of sea gulls and ravens eating it in the Albany County landfill...

If you use the rest of that stuff, you have my respect, but I just dont have a use for it.

BHR,

As long as he stays within the legal possession limit, no I dont. By the way, the legal possession limit is 2x the daily limit...by definition possession is defined as frozen, canned, or otherwise stored at ones residence.

Do you think he had more than 2x the daily stored at his home??? I'm not saying he did, but I'd find it hard to believe he didnt.

BUZZ, I'd say I have more uses for more of the carcass then you use and leave it at that. EG/BUZZ, I don't take my scraps to the landfill for dumping, I dump them back into the wild for "recycling" (usually in the same area I took them from). We have bald eagles that winter around CdA Lake, and they eat a lot of meat trimmings during the winter too.

Ten beers said, "BUZZ, I'd say I have more uses for more of the carcass then you use"

I bet you do...like cutting the antlers up for pot pipes....which explains the logic you use in SI.

Great to hear you take your household garbage out to the Lake to dump. |oo Hopefully you haul it on your ATV, so you can get the carcas and beer cans out next to your old washing machine and refridgerator.

Buzz, in no way was I bashing you. I am pretty damn jealous of what you have done this year. Like mtmiller said, I may not agree with you, but I still admire your animals.

IT, I was just poking fun at you and your tireless struggles. I, myself, am not a big fan of the ATV. I think there are places to ride them and places they should be banned from. More than anything, I wanted to use the comical Beavis and Butthead picture I found.

Ten Beers. Whole carcasses in dumpsters aren't from guys who bone off meat in the hills, it's from people that load them up whole and take them home, only to dump them. So you take the bones, hoves, hide and scraps from the field to your house, then load them up and take them back to "dump" them in the woods. How's that different than just taking the meat off in the woods?
