So, My boy has an X-bolt. We took the bolt out and it doesn't go back in. It looks "Twisted" if that makes sense to anyone that has one. There is a "pin" on the bolt I pushed in to try to untwist it but it starts going in but just not all the way.

I can run to the gun store and bring it in but if someone knows how to solve the issue I'd appreciate it, thanks !

Here is a photo of my bolt from my 30-06 X-Bolt, it should look like this, i had the same problem once, you will need a big screwdriver or pliers to shift the lug into the correct position with some leverage but you will see what i mean when you start to 'poke' around.

Cheers
Richard

I looked at buying a new left hand Xbolt and decided to buy a good usedAbolt instead.Just did not care for the way the Xbolt was made.I am a died in the wool Abolt guy.

Appears to work much like a Mauser bolt. Just hook the front of the cocking piece on the edge of a workbench, pull down on the bolt and twist until it hooks into the detent as shown in Richard's picture, or use some slip-joint pliers and grip the cocking piece by the sides of the protrusion, pull and twist.

Thanks guys, I will take a look-see tonight. It doesn't look like the picture above. It has twisted so the little silver arm is lower in the deeper gap.

I guess I don't get the part exactly about the Firing pin but when I have it in hand it probably will make sense.

I tried pushing it last night back but it wasn't working. I didn't force it though. Are you saying that I just need to put some "UMPH" into it and it will twist back ? I was worried about using pliers or a screw driver to scratch the metal. I'll just try with felt or something in between.

I have 'twisted the removed bolt on a sako and had the same issue but they provide a synthetic non marring tool to correct. I thought I'd really screwed up something but it ended up a simple correction.

Please video your efforts tonight.

I heard that if you pinch a fuzzy pink flip-flop between the bolt and a pair of pliers you can keep from scratching the metal. ;)

I have done the same on my Sako 75.
Moosie, yes you will have to give it some 'UMPH'!, you might put a little scratch on it but at least you will be able to use it again.
Cheers

Moosie, Use a flat screw driver and use the bolt hand for leverage. Pull the cocking piece all the back and then have your son turn it back to the cocked position as shown in the earlier photo.

I might video it and post it... I might even wear sleeveless shirt and pink Slippers..... ;)

DanR, Great to hear from ya. Hope all is well.

Pink sliipers are only appropriate if you dance! Great Moosie.. Sounds like things are normal around your place...

I just had the same issue after traveling with my gun last month. Just google a you tube video and you will see very quickly how to remedy the situation. I actually pulled mine and reset it using a bootlace.

Agree with the screwdriver statement. I bought an a-bolt and could not get it back in. Just had to re-align the bolt, as stated above, PS: don't put the screwdriver into your hand.

good luck to all

So I didn't have a Vice at my house. I stuck it half way into the gun and then pushed on the silver lever thingy. It went back fairly easy. Then I twisted it and WALLAH !!!

Tomorrow I put a few rounds through it and By next week this time I'll have Carnage on the ground,

I didn't video tape it, Anyone that knows me knows I'm a bit "shy" ;)

Thanks again Gun NERDS !!!
