Just wanted to let everyone know that the BLM is helping Bighorns in No. Utah. Work tomorrow for me will consist of helping trap and process California Bighorns on Antelope Island State Park. Friday they will be 'reintroduced' to the Stansberry Mtns south of the Great Salt Lake. This is the second 'reintroduction' of bighorns that the Salt Lake Field Office has been involved in with in the last 6 years. The first was successful enough that a hunt is being planned for that herd in the near future. They transplanted ~25 animals and the herd is now right at 100 head!!

I'll take some pics...:D

I saw something about this on the news. Definitely post pictures. Also, shoot me a PM when you have chance, I'd like to get more info on where they release them, so I can go watch/photo them some time!

I say reintroduction because they are California Bighorns. We were able o capture 14 ewes and lambs today! They are going to try to trap again next Tuesday. They will be moving 50 sheep, so whatever they have left to catch after next Tuesday will be caught via heleiopter and net gun.

TB- These are being released on the Stansberry Mtns.

It was cool to see alot of FNAWS, BLM, USFS, UDWR, UP&R and other volunteers working together to get something like this done. All have been crucial in getting this done.

Come on Tyler, any pics? Moving some sheep up here in three weeks. Hopefully I can get in on the action. :D

Being a good range guy I was too busy to get many good pics, but I'll get some more from the other guys at work once we're both there on the same day.

How does someone go about helping out on a project like this. I would defintely like to volunteer my time to a great cause like this.

If you join SFW you will probably be updated about these events and asked to help. I am on the banquet comittee and we talked about this last week.. I think everyone wanted to help.. What a great thing these guys did.. well done!

Yeah a few SFW guys where there, but most were FNAWS. I even got to see Don Peay... Another way is to keep in touch with UDWR about volunteer opportunities, probably through their Outreach staff.

I'm lucky, in that I hear about/participate through work.
