PAISLEY, Ore. -- A bighorn sheep ram was illegally killed, and a $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the conviction of those responsible, authorities said.
A party of rabbit hunters discovered the remains Sunday, about 10 miles south of the Lake County town of Paisley, said Trooper Randall Hand of the Oregon State Police Fish & Wildlife Division.
Hand said the sheep had multiple wounds, its head and hindquarters had been removed, and the remainder of the sheep had been left to rot.
Hand said the sheep probably was killed in late January or early February.
