Our neighbor is a grade school teacher, small North East Oregon community. Definitely the kind of teacher we need more of. She arrived home yesterday afternoon with her children, looked in the backyard by the trampoline and saw a cougar. Not a Portland teacher, she knew what to do…..DRT

Hopefully she won’t post it on social media. It never happened.

Always the right thing to do. Talk about or take pictures is the wrong thing to do.

Beautiful animals. Problem is you can never be sure what a wild animal will do. She did the right thing! probably illegal but right just the same. wonder what would happen if she was not a school teacher but a game warden. I think maybe the same outcome but you wouldn't have heard about it. Some years ago a local rancher had a lion with a cub living under his house. He called fish and game and they simply told him to shoot them, he did!

Yup, open year around here (Oregon) unless you hit an individual zonal limit (rare) and you’re allowed a second tag in most places! Harvest rate, post hounds, has been dismal though 😟
