What up fellas? Got off work Friday and headed to the hills. Found a new spot, at least it looked good on the map, and pulled in at dark. Pickup wasn't that comfy, but it worked. Got up early and hit the trail. Little more snow than I had hoped, but what the hell, I am here.

Tried to get up high to glass a little more area, but all I saw was a coyote and these guys.

Since I wasn't being run over by bears, I decided it was time to push myself a little since it has been a long winter. Here is a view from as high as I could go. Awesome country, but few critters right now.

After 8 hours of attacking the mountain and snow, or vice-versa according to my legs right now, I headed to another new spot.

This one had some potential.

Only one problem.

I really wanted to get in closer for some shots, but I didn't want three orphans if things got western...;) :D...Or maybe I am just a chicken-sheet.

I said crap on the bears this morning and tried turkeys. Had 2 jakes work by the decoys, but they didn't want to commit. This was probably my last shot at a MT turkey this season and one of them would have been dead if they had commited. Instead they followed a real hen up the hill.

Oh well, got out of the house, got some exercise and saw some cool critters.

I didn't see any problem ;)

I'd say Mnt Goats in view means you're a Bit high... but thats just me...

Yeh, a bit high.:D Actually I was going to head to the pick-up after having a little breakfast and glassing. I should have never sat down and enjoyed the scenery. The mind started thinking how deep is that snow up there? How long would it take me to get up there? What does it look like on the other side? Am I too big of a puss to walk up the hill for no apparent reason?:D (BTW, those snow slopes were steeper than a mo-fo)

Once I got started, I couldn't just turn around.

Like the cap? Thanks for the lid. Now if I can just get some critters with your lucky cap.:D

Now get busy hauling donuts up your hill (or load up Bryce).;) :D

I would be too big of a Wuss :)

I was up in my bait area today. But like Usual latley, it wa smore for Buis-nass. I was looking at a 1.3 Acre piece of Property I just bought :D Next week will be baiting..... Or jsut spot and Stalk... I'm not around next weekend. Something about someone graduating college in the Pocatello area I need to make a road trip. Whats up with all these things getting in the way. I wish I was like you and had no friends, no Wife, had money, good looking .. :p and all the time in the world :D :D

PS, Nice hat, Cali and you are like the only ones with that model so far :)

Cool pictures Miller. Had it not been for the cubs, that bear would have looked pretty good. Those sows are tricky to judge. Too bad all sows didn't have cubs. Would be better yet if the boars had antlers.

Thanks guys. Axl stayed with the vehicle on this outing. I just about brought him with on Saturday evening, but changed my mid at the last minute. Probably a good idea as that is when I ran into the cubs. He is good at staying put, but I have him sit while I sneak in, he starts to whine when I get about 100 yards away. Probably not a good way to sneak up on a bear.:D

Paul, I got your PM. I will get in touch tonight or tomorrow. I am interested, but am pretty ignorant to the subject and need to ask a few questions.

Great pics. I used to own a 97 Tacoma and spent many a nights leaned back in the driver seat tucked away in my sleeping bag catching zzz's. Now I just stretch out on the rear benchseat of the Dodge. Sleeps a little better than the Toy.;)

Good luck with the bear hunting. I bet it won't be long before you drop one.

Nice looking hike Craig...nice pics and that is a sweet looking sow!

I've only seen this dink this year, but did see a big fat track nearby...maybe I'll see him soon.
