I pulled this off another site.
Just pulled this from the Star's website:

ARIZONA DAILY STAR A Tucson man was killed and his body found at his camp site in the Santa Rita Mountains Sunday, police said. The man told family members he was going hunting and camping on Thursday. They became concerned when they hadn’t heard from him by Sunday and went looking for him at his usual camp site. They found his body at his camp site off Forest Service Road 485 and originally reported to sheriff's deputies that the man had been mauled by a bear. Sheriff investigators classified the death as a homicide. The body was brought down the mountain last night. “Somebody came upon him between Thursday and Sunday and murdered him,” said Sgt. James Ogden, a spokesperson for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. Authorities are not releasing the name of the victim until this afternoon, and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death. The investigation continued this morning. Read more about it in tomorrow’s Arizona Daily Star.

Guys this is just another example why G&F needs to amend the regulation prohibiting carrying a firearm durring archery season.

Oregon just passed the law last year allowing you to carry during bow season. CA prohibits it but since some of the land I hunt has a tendency to be "multiple-use" (pot growing...not forest management)I always pack my 9mm anyway.

Nut, I remember that Ohio guy- what ever happened to that case? He was a real whack job...

We're not allowed to carry a firearm "while" archery hunting. The regs say nothing about
"while" being at camp. ;)

Hope they solve this as it could become a regular thing like what we had here in Ohio back in the early 90's. Guy was out killing hunters and fishermen just because he could.

Prayers for his family.

I dont think anyone was saying he was murdered by a handgun just that some people carry handguns while archery hunting. it is illegal to have a firearm in your possesion while archery hunting here in the state of az.

I have a question, and I am being serious. Did it say where the man was from? Not trying to start anything new on teh res v. nonres issue, just curious.

Tim

he was a res, that area is heavly populated by illegals and and drug runners crossing the boarder. the whole area down there is a mess when your hunting, Ive been told some of them try to steal anything and everything you own while your out hunting. Most illegals dont steal or kill, they are just happy to be here.( no Cj I dont think they should be either unless they do it legally)

wyomingtim, What's your point? Do you think non residents should pay more for a serial killer license? ;)
Serial killers do, on a small scale, what governments do on a large one. They are products of our times and these are bloodthirsty times.

Ithaca I think his point was this.

he was wondering about the non res vs res problem arizona recently had.

heres some more on the az story

The Star added a little more info:

A Tucson man was found shot to death Sunday at his campsite in the Santa Rita Mountains.

Estevan Millan Montaño, 44, told family members he was going deer hunting on Thursday.

They became concerned when they hadn't heard from him by Sunday and went looking for him at his usual campsite, said Sgt. James Ogden, a spokesman for the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

They found his body at his campsite off Forest Service Road 485 near Helvetia, a ghost town about 12 miles southeast of Sahuarita.

The family originally reported the man had been mauled by a bear, but investigators said he died of gunshot wounds.

"Somebody came upon him between Thursday and Sunday and murdered him," Ogden said.

Sheriff's investigators classified the death as a homicide and said the investigation is ongoing. The body was brought down the mountain Sunday night.

Montaño was a family man and a hard worker, said neighbor Ed Coderre, 36. He was a husband and father and worked several jobs to support his family, Coderre said.

Montaño's family would not comment Monday.

Thanks Nut....I remember now what a cold hearted SOB that mudering freak was. His quote "I thought no more of shooting Paxton than shooting a bottle at the dump" pretty much said it all.

...that fella had some SERIOUS demons workin his cranium...
