Anybody homebrew??

Hi all. Given COVID and more time at home, curious if anyone has some home brews they are enjoying, fermenting, or just dreaming about?

The wife and I did a mead (our second) a couple weeks ago, straight up from Papazian’s Complete Joy of Homebrewing. Our last one took about 9-10 months to really peak, so hopefully I poach fewer along the way this time. ;)

I just finished the last of my latest homebrew, an Irish red that I've made a few times.

Gotta get more going for the sister-in-law's wedding, hope that one turns out!
 
my gal does all our homebrewing. Most are acceptable. Some are really good. My favorite was an Apricot ale i believe its called. Most of the time she over fizzes them so you just have to be near the sink when you pop the cap as you just never know how bad its going to be. We picked all the grapes off our grape vines a few years back and i helped her get them all separated in the buckets and she went through the whole process to make some wine. I came back from a hunting trip and she had chucked the whole thing as she said it tasted bad. I was pretty disappointed i didn't get to even taste it.
 
Just started when we were on lockdown. Figured it would be a good distraction and I've always wanted to learn anyway. Brewed 2 batches so far. Must have been okay because I now know how fast I can go through 8 6-packs of beer. LOL
 
I do some basic extract/specialty grain brewing. Haven't done any in the last couple months though. Even with my limited equipment and skills I can brew a decent imperial stout for half the cost.
 
We don't home brew but grow hops. We have Cascades and now some new Centennials coming up.
We harvest and the dried hops go in a batch at The Library in town.
Might have some leftovers if anyone coming through Laramie this fall wants some.
 
Janet's brown ale was a definite go-to. But usually experimented with extra hops and dry hopping to sort of push it into india brown territory, we did an imperial India brown that was pretty extreme, wish I had a few of those for these hot afternoons coming this week.
 
I used to. Never got deep enough in the weeds to do anything besides putting together the pre-made recipes from Midwest Brewing Supplies. I haven't done any in a few years, I don't know if I will get back to it. I haven't had any type of alcohol since December. I picked a hell of year to quit drinking.

My neighbor has them growing all over their house and they let them wither and die on the vine. A tragic waste.
 
We take pride in getting some quality home grown hops for our brewer friend. Lots of bine management throughout the growing season.
Our worst fear is a hail storm from now til Sept.

rwc if you want some come fall let me know, we're right near the University. Mitch gets a box full at The Library and we still have some left over after drying. They do well used for dry hopping.
 
I used to but just don't have the time anymore. I enjoyed it, but certainly wasn't a cheap way to drink beer
It's the cheapest way I know to drink GOOD beer, which is what makes it worth the trouble to me. :D

I've tried and tried to find an inexpensive beer that I enjoy drinking, but now that I know what good beer tastes like (and doesn't tear me up like cheap beer does) there is no going back for me.
 
I brewed my first homebrew batches in 1989. I haven't brewed at home in a couple years. I had a sweet 20 gallon MoreBeer 3 vessel Tippy Sculpture system at that worked pretty well. I have since upgraded to this 2 barrel, 4 vessel, semi automated system. It works pretty well so I don't brew at home anymore. Best tips I can give. Keep everything SUPER clean. Use good healthy yeast culture along with top quality ingredients. Don't worry somebody will drink your mistakes....
