AK draw hunts

Yep. Everything but elk. I'm really hoping to draw a Kodiak tag. Need carpet for the new family room.

I'm just gonna put in for the nelchina bou hunt. Between my wifes upcoming surgeries and bear camp, my vacation will be used up. The bou hunt I can do on a long weekend, and I'm not gonna waste a good tag if I get drawn for something when I know I probably wont be able to do it this year.

I put in for several. DCUA Sheep, Ketchikan Mtn Goat, Hogatza Moose, and Etolin Elk. Put my kid in for the same goat, sheep, and elk tags.

Am I correct in thinking that if you draw that tag, you have to hunt both bou and moose in Unit 13 and can't hunt other parts of the state?

Delta Junction Bison app here. Yeah, yeah, I know it's a long shot. But you can't win if you don't play.

Thats the way I take it MD. Doesnt bother me any, unit 13 is a big GMU and alot of good spots.

You got that right Dude! After I got my caribou out of Tok this year, I took my Mom (she lives in Anchorage) up to the Denali highway for a couple of days. We were able to spot a nice bull moose in the Clearwater Creek Controlled Use area, pointed it out to a few guys cruisin the road. They were heading after it as we left to go back to the lodge - if they got that one they earned it, the moose was still about 3/4 mile from the highway!

I love the Denali country, but lots of other good moose spots in 13 too. Good luck!

I hunted the clearwater area a few times. Ran into a brown shirt one year and she just finished her arial fly-over and said the nearest legal moose was 7 miles away (that she seen).

We still hunted but I wasnt gonna haul a moose 7 miles to go after the one she seen.

I'm I missing out on something here? Is there any hard to draw areas for the diy type of hunter?

Theres a handful of moose and caribou hunts that are pretty good. The muskox is a DIY hunt, sort of...you likely need a transporter, but you dont need a guide. The caribou I applied for you probably need a transporter as well.

For two weeks I have been trying to download the draw supplement from the link provided on the website. It stops part way through, every time.

Anyone else have this problem?

Here is the link. I better get it working in the next week, or my AK apps are down the tubes.

Post Script. Just tried it in IE, rather than Firefox, and no problems. WTH?

Just got put in for: Moose, Bison, Elk, and Muskox. If I draw any one of them should be quite the adventure. Bison is a long shot but someone has to draw.
