Miss Grace's mommy ended up in the ER and was treated for CO poisoning. She had been sick all week (felt like she was prego) and couldn't figure what was going on. Crazy as it was, she was being gassed by the used car they had just purchased for an extra car for two new family drivers to use. She had been driving it to work after our first snow. Lucky for her she has great co-workers who started asking questions and loaned her a CO detector they use in the county highway department or we would have never figured it out. She would let one of the boys drive to school (on learner permit) then she would drive to work. Garrett complained he was tired all week and they/we thought he was staying up too late at night and blew it off.
After a couple of hours on oxygen, blood test, EKG and pumping her up with fluids she was good to go. Luckily grandson walked home from school so was in the car for less time and he checked out okay. Geez, some scary stuff.

Who would have thought?

WOW! Glad it was discovered and major kudos to those who passed the detector to her! May have been a life saving move to offer and to accept...

Wow, that's scary. Exhaust leak?

Glad she's okay and didn't pass out while driving!

Whomever sold you that car should be charged and thrown in jail.

That is the crazy thing. Was purchased from my neighbor who had driven it to Salt Lake and back the week before. I reached out to him about it and both he and his wife came over almost in tears as they know our daughters. Just one of those fluke things. But, guess is exhaust manifold gasket could be leaking. Will find out tomorrow.

Scary indeed!
Also check to make sure the exhaust pipe sticks out further than the rear of the car and that the trunk or rear hatch is sealing properly. If the heater air intake (usually between the hood and windshield) is covered with snow and ice it can cause problems also.

+1 on the smart co-workers. They diagnosed that situation quickly (thank god). Glad to hear things are OK.
