I'm looking to get back into handgun hunting again, and am thinking about a 7mm creedmoor loaded with 130-145g solid copper bullets. Has anyone ever fooled around in this arena?
I plan to hunt everything from antelope to elk with it. The platform is a Remington XP-100R.

If I was building another xp100 I’d jump straight to a 284 sized case. Run a quality muzzle brake and go.

The wife and I have killed our fair share with xp100. With that being said I pretty much always come back to something off the 284 case.

6.5-284 is the sweet spot. I probably built more custom xp100 for customers in 6.5-284 than anything else.

With a muzzle brake due to the increased gasses it will actually recoil less than a creed.

Mono metal in a 6.5-284. Look no further than a 127 BArnes LRX.

I’m retired now…..completely. So not advertising work.

What twist and do you have any issues with feeding out of the magazine?

I run just the center grip guns as I find them more useful in the field. So they are single shot.

I reload off the side of the gun as you can see in the picture…..I just take 2 rounds in the field.

It’s not going to fit in the internal mag and it’s not needed anyways. Just run a single shot follower. Almost all of the custom rear grips I built were done with single shot followers or custom single shot actions.

7.5 twist.

I built xp100 and rear grips on various actions from tiny cases all the way through 338 lapua.

My old website is still up…..I am retired and absolutely do not take in work but maybe it will give you ideas.
