622-30 Ewe tag

At 52 Years of age I decided I’d rather go sheep hunting at least once vs dying with a bunch of MT sheep points. Bingo got my Ewe tag in 622-30.
I’ve been hunting Unit 630 & 620 for deer and antelope since 1991, but I’ve not hunted the South of 620 where the sheep are.
I’m looking to get some advice on timing and access from any that have hunted 620 sheep before.
The tag is good 9/15-12/1 wondering if it would be better to hunt before the general deer/elk season starts?
Access wise boat from the the lake or truck and or quad from access road from the South?
We usually camp in 630 off bone trail, but have also camped at Anderson Ranch (now horse ranch) near the coral.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

congrats on tag....I burned a couple points early on when I was 22 for the same reason...to hunt sheep....never regretted it. I got mine in 680-30 though. Good luck

Totally understand where you're coming from. I think you have made a wise choice. If it were me, I would want to create the best experience possible. I'd canoe the river and spend about a week on the water, camping at attractive sites along the way. I would do everything possible to soak up that wild and scenic country. I'd grab a deer tag of some kind to give myself another option on the portions of your chosen route that fall outside the sheep unit boundary.

A lonesome canoe trip through the Breaks in the middle of the fall with boned-out meat stuffed into the canoe, the rhythmic "whoosh" of a paddle cutting the water, and the understanding that the Corps of Discovery poled the same route about 215 years ago... I can't think of a better experience.

Ahhh. Crud. Listen to @Schaaf. Still something boat-based, hunting from the water vs the roads, would make it so much more memorable in my mind. Obviously, my mind isn’t worth a whole lot, though.
