I took the family out to one of our local lakes over the Victoria Day long weekend. One of those cottage-y kind of lakes that nobody thinks holds any fish... Anyway, we were trying to jig up some trout in like 70 feet of water, marking them right on bottom. My son was goofing around with his Lightning McQueen rod, had a 1/8 oz green jig head and a minnow maybe 15 feet under the boat, honestly we were just trying to keep him busy. I was being Mr. Serious Fisherman when I looked over and noticed him fighting something, turns out he had this 7lb Laker on! Needless to say he was pretty pumped... we cooked it up for dinner that night. It was a pretty proud moment for me, thanks for letting me share!

That is a perfect day on the lake. Congrats to both of you. Those McQueen poles are fish slayers!

That is great!! I bet that fish gave him a run for his money. Fresh lake trout are my personal favorite shore lunch.

That is so cool. What a great story and one you'll always remember. My favorite fishing partners are my boys, and I have loads of memories. It doesn't get much better then that

He's got the bug for sure! So much fun to watch him learn and grow. Our daughter is 13 so she knows way more than me about life... haha kids..

At four years old, perhaps that will be his first ever firm memory. Not remembering a picture or a story, but a for real, his very own, first memory.

Great day

Awesome! Grats to the young gent and to a great/proud pops! Love these threads!
