This has nothing to do with public land hunting. It has to do with Veterans Day that comes next week.
A close friend of mine, Elliot Woods, an Iraq vet and journalist, was embedded with a Marine Platoon in Sangin, Afghanistan during the surge of 2011. He interviewed many Marines at that time and then went back to interview them in 2021, ten years later to check in on their lives since then. That is the content of this podcast docu-series titled Third Squad.
So far four of the episodes are published and more are yet to come. Elliot and his producers have done a remarkable job of using high production values and the podcast format to provide a different lens through which to see and hopefully understand better. It is very powerful, raw, and worthwhile.
Some on Hunt Talk understand this story well, as they lived this as part of their service. Most of us did not live it and perspectives such as this podcast series help with the understanding and hopefully increased awareness.
If you're inclined, give it a listen and subscribe. Each episode is about 40 minutes.
