I'm getting ready to start loading for a Roberts I recently bought. Anyone have any load suggestions to start with?

I don't load for a Roberts but have years of experience with the 25-06 and the Roberts little brother the 6mm Remington.
I would try a good 100 gr. Partition or the 110 gr. Accubond. Using IMR4350 or H4350 would be a good bet with both bullet weights. The load I have in the 25-06 uses IMR4350 with the 120 gr. Partition and my 6mm uses the 100 gr. Partition with IMR4350. It would be worth trying that as a good first powder, but there are some other powders that certainly would work equally as well. Best of luck and I wish I had some experience with that cartridge to give you but I think this is a start..

Congrats on the new rifle. You picked a great little cartridge. Good advice so far on the 4350s. The 4831s and RL-19 work well for that 100+ grain bullet range as well. My personal favorite powders for the heavier bullets are Hybrid 100V, and RL-17. Both have given me great accuracy, and as a bonus are top of the class for velocity as well. With bullets lighter than 100 grains, H4895 gave me great accuracy.
One thing to consider before you start loading is that the 257 Roberts is an old round, and there are some old rifles chambered for it. If you're going to use modern data make sure your rifle is up to the pressure. Also be aware that there are two types of cases-- standard and +P. The +P cases have thicker case walls and less capacity, so you will need to pay attention to what type of case was used in the data you are referencing, and make adjustments as necessary.
I'd love to hear some details on the rifle-- pics are a plus.

Awesome round, I love mine.
I found 100 gr speer BT backed by 4831 shoots very well in mine, 1/4 inch moa at 100 yards if I do my part. I did play with some 120 gr, but the 100 grainers work so well I just stuck with it.

I picked up a Remington 700 classic a couple months ago. My dad has an old Remington 722 257 Roberts that he killed a pile of deer with. I killed my first rifle deer with it 22 years ago. I had been wanting one of my own for a while and was thrilled to find a 700.

In my M70 I have had success with 100 gr Nosler BT with 45.0 gr of IMR 4350 seated at magazine length. I am ready to load some 110 gr Nosler Accubonds, but haven't done it yet. Hope this helps.

That's a nice looking classic with pretty wood! One thing great about those as well is they came with a 24" barrel.

Just looked at my load data, 45.5 gr of 4831, CCI 200 primer, and 100 gr sierra BT

I'm reloading for a Ruger77MKII. If you reload, you can use the +P loads safely in your rifle.
I shoot everything from 75gr. HP Varmint bullets to 120gr. Sierra HPBT Gamekings.
With the 75gr. Sierra Varminter, and the 90gr. Sierra Blitzking I"m using Hodgdon H414.
For the 100gr., 115gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips I use Hodgdon Hybrid 100V.
For the 120gr. Sierra's I'm using Alliant RL26.
All the loads I do can consistently hit a steel turkey at 430yards.. (don't ask me, that's the distance the range put the tripod up at)..
