2019 Wyoming Goats:
We started our morning out at 430am to make the trip to the public land honey hole. We exited the vehicle about 30 min before sunrise and took about a 3 mile hike in. The weather was wonderful in the sense it kept all the hunters stuck in their trucks. It was a constant heavy mist. By the time we got to the glassing spot we were already soaked. Within minutes we spotted goats. We made it to the top of a finger and Jess was up first. Her goat was 400 yards away with a 3mph head wind. I gave her the distance and she dialed it and took a prone position. The mist was so heavy it was blocking out the optics and they had to be wiped off constantly with wipes. You could only see through the center of the optic due to the water coming off it in sheets. Jess touched off the 6 creed xp100 sending a 100 grain Sierra Game King right into the shoulder....bang flop. Then the goats just started to bed down for whatever reason. There was zero cover between us and them. The wide goat looked like a shooter so I went ahead and got behind the 6 creed xp100. It took me about 5 min to find the goat in the optic due to the water issues. The goat was ranged at 462 yards....and down he went to the land of sausages!
The mystery ranch packs made our pack out a breeze!
