Just returned from our annual AZ Coues deer hunt. We spent a total of 7 days up in the mountains which resulted with one buck being harvested.

This was a new unit for us which made the hunt a bit more difficult. We had three tags but just one was filled. Still, we had alot of fun! Congrats to my buddy who made an amazing shot on this deer.

1 out of 3 this time of the year aint too shabby.
Were you hunting down south?
Yes, we hunted one of the south units. We saw a decent number of bucks, more than I expected. It just never came together for me and one other hunter. Still had a great time tho.

Never realized you could draw the Rifle tags every year.Want to try that hunt some year. How do able is this hunt by flying in and renting a suv???Are the roads rough?
Congrats on your deer

I never applied as an NR in Az, but there's plenty of tags you can draw every year. Extremely doable in a rental. Hell, PM me and I'll give you a 100% draw unit where if it's like it was when I hunted, you will see quite a few deer if you hike from camp, or a boatload if you set up a spike camp for a few days

That’s super cool those gray ghosts are beautiful and occupy some disctinctive country! Congrats to your pard on a nice buck and to all three of you on a memorable experience!

That’s a bucket list hunt for me for sure!!

Very cool. Due to my wife's new job requires we find some other time frames for hunting. Archery in southern AZ is near the top of the list.

So Coues in the mountains and Muleys down lower?

We try to go every year. This year we were not drawn so we ended up picking up leftover tags.
