2015 Idaho Goat tag (Most viewed post ever)

So, I've lost my touch on writing. But I'll share my endeavor that's happening this year. Lots of pictures in this post (in the future) and lots of side bars with derailing consistently. In the end, I hope to have a Goat and a great experience. Wish me luck !! You know this thread will get long and good. I'm sure I'll have a handstand over a cliff or maybe kicking a bear in the nads. You never know.......

I haven't been working out and don't have much time lately, but I spent 2 days driving around the outskirts of my unit looking over country. Since there were no roads into the unit that was my only option this weekend.

Yes, I know this isn't the best way to scout but limited time, and I went with my dad. Great first day out and got to spend Fathers day with Dad.

Camp was set up :

I think I'll get some good pictures of goats with that set up. But we mostly cleared roads and glassed from a far. In a couple weeks I'm putting on the Danners and hiking in.

Moosie, not sure what phone you are running, but if it is an iPhone you can use the apple earbuds as a shutter release to take the pics. Up volume=no shake spotter pic. Love my phoneskope!

Looking forward to this as Idaho is my goat state. I'm in for the long haul there. Sheep most everywhere else.

I have a Samsung phone, not Apple. I refuse to drink the AAPL koolaid, although I have 25% of my retirement in that stock because people are loyal to them But what I have works.

Pictures will be few and far between the next couple months, but there after, look out !!

Guys, been busy. 2 months since I learned I drew the tag and haven't gotten out again yet to scout. Will be coming soon. I did fly in for a couple hours to Pistol Creek Ranch on the Middle Fork of the Salmon on Monday for work. The snow was pretty cool. 100 Degrees to snow. BAM !! Went in to look at a water system.

I did come out and start getting my hunting gear together... 2 more weeks and I'll be on my first official scouting trip.

Scouting Trip

Season opens this weekend. I'm heading out tomorrow. Hard to think so much time has passed and zero scouting has been done. I'm not worried, hunts always work out though

I went out last week and as you can see I still look "studly" and wear appropriate hats.

I brought up the Aspire. Figured 8 hours of driving I could save some coin and drive the commuter car. Funny times as I was passing jacked up trucks, 4-wheeler and razors on the hill. Everyone smiled but had to know I was dedicated..... or a dork.
