I got this this morning in Wyoming with my father-in-law about 8:30am of opening day. :D We glassed this hillside (about a square mile) for about an hour into daylight and we didn't see a darn thing..it is bone dry there! We worked our way back around into the south and spotted him about 3-400 yards from where we originally glassed. He was there the whole time in that draw, I'm glad we kept at it, dropped him at 200 yards. I saw a total of THREE deer today, usually we see a lot but this is a bad year with the drought! While I am super-stoked about this deer, I hate the fact that my tag is punched! Wish the hunt could have lasted longer but I couldn't pass him up!

Good luck to everyone else. Sounds like it's going to be a tough deer season. The locker plant had only see a few deer the whole day but had processed hundreds of goats.

Sheds?

Yeah, he does have a little kicker on the right side. We think we found his sheds from last year but since he is an older deer he has regressed a little, dry climate and less than adequate nutrition was probably also a factor. Here are the sheds, they were found about a 1/2 mile from where we shot him, let me know what you guys think! I think he is at least a 1st degree relative!

Great buck, congrats.

I don't think the sheds are off the same deer, they look older than last year, and are considerably bigger/heavier and a 3pt. Generally droght conditions will stunt the tine lenght, but not make them lose tines or a lot of mass. The sheds look like they're off an older buck. Could have some of the same genetics in him though. Great find!

Nice buck! Sometimes it feels good knowing hunting season is already over for you. That is if you don't mind helping others.

Well, if you're going to punch your tag early it might as well be for a pretty deer like that one.

Great buck!!! Headed out to Wyoming on Friday for a week - hope I have the same luck - got Mule Deer and Pronghorn tags!

Nice buck. congrats, and I surely don't think that those sheds are off the same buck.

Real nice buck and got good brow pts .I see you are in shortsleeves, kinda warm here too.Congrats.

@Buck23, It was pretty chilly that morning when I took him (40 degrees & windy) but it got up to 75 that day when I took the pic before I went to the lockerplant. His brow points are about 4 inches long!! Really cool for a muley!

Now I gotta fill my archery tag here in SD! I love this time of the year and holy crap!! It might snow tonight and friday night!!!! WOOOOHOOOO!!!
