150grn ELD-X in a 7mm-08

Hey Brian,

I do not have experience loading for the 7mm/08, but I have loaded the Hornady ELD-X in 143 GR for my 6.5 Creedmoor (or man bun to others) with IMR 4350 with terrific results. I also loaded the 168 GR Hornady ELD-M for my 300 WM with great success.

On another note, I have been loading the 150 GR Nosler ABLR in my 7mm Rem Mag with great accuracy and IMR 4831 powder.

I hope this helps.

Clamdin,

I have taken two mule deer bucks with those bullets. They followed the normal lung shot death method of boom, flop, and dead. Unfortunately, I cannot report how they perform at longer range as those deer were taken at ~75 yards and 200 yards.

In my 7mm-08 I use Varget. But, I fire the 162 ELD-X out of it..

Try the 150 ELDX over 45 to 46 grains R26 with a magnum primer like a 215M or WLRM, or Tula LRM if you have them. From reading it looks like several guys over on 24hourcampfire are having success with that combo.

I have tried RL 17 and the 150 gn eldx in my 7mm-08. Velocity was great, near 2,900 fps. Accuracy was just so-so.

This was my finding as well...but with a little work I did find accuracy by backing down on the velocity and out seating the bullet as far as my mag would allow. Went from 2920fps with a 2.8"AOL 5 shot groups just over and around 1 1/2" (Groups where circular); to 2820fps with a 2.89 AOL 5 shot group of 3/4" to 7/8"...three of the shots in the 1/2" to 3/8" in several of the groups.

How do the ELDX 150 perform in the field? 230yds quartering shot into an antelope doe resulted in a small hole in the upper chest and an exit wound the size of a fist out just behind the shoulder. Bullet did fragment...two small pieces found in the shoulder. Goat tipped over and kicked a few times. I'm happy with this bullets performance thus far. For elk hunting I will avoid frontal shots but wouldn't hesitate on a shot behind the shoulder out to 350yds.

Hey guys, looking for your opinions. New to reloading and trying to develop a load for my 7mm-08. I have access to IMR 4451, 4895, 4831, or accurate 2460. What do you think would be the best choice for a 150gr ELD-X? Any thoughts would be awesome.

Out of those powders I’d try IMR4451. Check out Hodgdon’s website for load data.70ED3310-FD22-4859-8230-558A68285E9E.jpeg

I have been loading 145gr, 150gr, and 160gr bullets in my Tikka lately. First off I use the shortest bullets
I can get Like Nosler Partitions. Any way RL26 gave 2772 FPS, You can use MRP also but the loads are very compressed.
With 145gr Speer I got 2880 FPS with the RL26 and the RL17. I,m working on loads using PP4000MR so far not much accuracy.
but did get 2895 FPS shooting 145gr Speer using win cases and WLRM primers. Have more loaded but staying indoors right
now. Using Sierra 150gr I got 2816 FPS using RL26. I,m also loading 154gr Interbonds but bullet is to long. I should have bought the flat bases ones. Any way I have some loaded with RL17, we will see what happens. PP4000MR would be great if I could get some accuracy out of it. Hunter shows promise with 145gr and maybe 150gr, but I,m almost out of that powder.
