That’s awesome to hear and the 80 TTSX will be loaded in my wife’s rifle next season. Ran out of time and money this season. I had the partitions on hand loaded them to max and they shot really well. But can’t find them anymore and all my other rifles are loaded with coppers.
There really seems to be a trend that heavy is the only way.
I think the 1:10 twist has cripples the 243win compared to the other 6mms. Unfortunately the two I bought are the 1:10s . But I’m ok with a lighter bullet going stupid fast.
With today’s new 6mms shooting heavy bullets is the 243win even relevant?
I think it is but it’s not talked about anymore it seems.
Recently picked up two tikka compacts in 243win for dirt cheap. Pulling the barrel on one and the other went to my wife. I have to say impressed with this rifle...
I’ve used them on deer with two pellets of white hots. Bang flop. Can’t speak to elk but I’d probably go to 3 pellets for a little more range or power.
7.62x39 is the obvious choice. Cheap plinking ammo and 123gr TSX w/ 29.5grs +/- more or less of an unknown powder = 2500fps at the muzzle. Deadly on deer.
Naw 7.62x39 is my favorite of the ranch rifles but probably not the best these days.
What did you end up with???
Go buy a cva(I really like the wolf), some white hots, some Barnes 250s bullets, some primers and a kit with patches bore butter and cleaner.
I clean my barrel every three shots during sight in. Store clean with a little bore butter. Wipe barrel out then pop a couple primers to season the bore...
Nope it’s a 30WCF! 😉 same thing.
Last I had it out I was working on a spicy load using leverevolution and hornady 140 monoflexs. Velocities we’re looking good.
