    Eldx vs evostrike

Evostrike Infomercial I realized I should’ve posted this originally since the evostrike is a somewhat obscure loading. Its one of the only videos that gives info on the evostrike.

    Eldx vs evostrike

I have found similar results from gel tests and reviews/forums from the eldx but the Norma is questionable for me because the front half on the evostrike is meant to be frangible. I would like to start reloading for the rifle but I don’t have the gear yet and am not sure where to start. If you...

    Eldx vs evostrike

I generally like Norma’s bullets but this one is rather unique in that it’s two pieces of tin held together where the front is supposed to fragment while the back pushes through. It’s left me somewhat mixed and the lack of ballistic tests and field use stories makes me question performance.

    Eldx vs evostrike

This past year I picked up a bergara b14 wilderness terrain in 7mm rem mag as a do all type of rifle. Unfortunately it is very ammo picky and only shoots 2-3 loadings at that sub moa guarantee. The two that it really likes is Norma’s 127gr evostrike and hornadys 162gr eldx. The gun does prefer...

    6.5 PRC vs .280AI

For elk the 280ai seems like a better choice especially since Barnes recently released a 152gr LRX in factory loadings for it.

    Mauser Caliber Ideas

Used to use an 8x57 for deer hunting in the north east and found it to be very adequate for the 100 yards or less shot opportunities.

Looking for suggestions on a new caliber

I think .308 would be a great choice for deer with the option to go bigger but I think your 338 would cover the bigger stuff anyways.

New 30-06. Thinking about trying copper.

For versatility I like the 150gr coppers which should be sufficient for everything you plan to hunt.

    Norma bondstrike

My dads Sako loves the ammo and I’ve seen a couple tests with them which performed well.

Tell me about your obscure cartridge

Mine is the 8mm Mauser which I know is pretty popular outside the U.S. but I’ve found ammo limited to ppu soft points and fmjs. I took one of my first deer with it and found it to perform very well for under 200 yards.

Guidance on choosing a new barrel or new rifle

For under $2000 and at the right places for under $1500 you can get a Sako s20 which shoots lights out.

    Sako S20

I know I’m late to this thread but my dad recently got one in 6.5 as a range/deer rifle and it shoots very good. Not ammo picky which is nice on the wallet.

20 GA Over/Under- spend my money

Not sure what’s the budget for this shotgun but I recently got a used browning citori in 20 ga but if you have the money I’d go new. Very good hunting gun in my experience.
