There’s a quota range in the regs so it can be anywhere in that range. It’s subject to change. With antelope it happens a lot. That’s my guess anyways. 100 was supposed to have 5 and only drew 3. It just has to be in the range and it’s prob the biologists discretion
I drew 323 last year and some basic advice just for goat hunting in general I could give you. pack light, it’s steep and horrible stuff. We had a lot of good, light packs and equipment. Some down and excellent rain gear (I had stone glacier stuff) is a must because that high elevation can be...
Practice calling starting now. If you don’t sound legit prob won’t get much action. There were guys up here that never saw or got moose and we saw plenty
Not sure if you saw my response I don’t get on here a bunch. Spend as much time from Oct 1-10 that’s when the rut is full swing. Try cow calling and scraping. YouTube videos work! Look for cows and that’s where they’ll be. Sounds simple but it’s true. We managed to see 7 bulls in two days...
Oh gotcha. My buddy’s dad drew 100 last year and I live up here so we got him a real beauty. Called in 7 bulls in two days. I would spend as much time as you can from Oct 1-10 and more toward the 1st. They’re rutty and easy to call. Scraping works good but check out some cow calling videos...
You live on kodiak? I just got back from kotzebue. Was up visiting a buddy that lives there. My wife and I lived there for 5 years or so a while back. I miss Alaska but I grew up here in montana so it’s hard not to come back.
Yeah I don’t think they are too common up there plus they were about 9,800ft up. We did also see a real nice six point bull in the headwaters of meatrack
it sure is fun hiking up there. We even ran into some sheep when we were glassing the headwaters of Anderson creek. Too bad it’s outside the unlimited district. Saw some rams.
Ended up spotting a good one from the ridge north of mill across the whole valley to the south of mill so had to go down and all the way back up to get mine.
