I have gotten trail cam pics of black bears, wolves, and cougars in that unit but nothing like some of the #s you would get in the lesser accessible wilderness units. From the #s of elk I have seen there I can't really see any recent decline but I am sure the #s have declined considerably from...
Thanks, I had no intentions of my post stirring up controversy but took offense to the implicationd that I was posting something that was possibly illegal.
After waiting online to purchase a NR archery tag on 12/1/22 for >6 hours IDFG advised the "A" tags were sold out but the "B" tags (usually sell out first) were available. The B tags allow a hunter to archery hunt during September for spikes & anterless elk as well as the gun season. In March of...
Not bold SaskHunter, this is not my first rodeo...I would not be stupid enough to post something on a public forum if it was illegal. It is not uncommon in Idaho but has to go through IDFG. I guess it would be illegal if you simply exchanged the tags without paying the transfer fee and not...
I would not submit this post if it was not legal. I have a summer home in Idaho and have hunted this unit for the past 7 years. The exchange/transfer would be processed through IDFG. It is not uncommon in Idaho.
The Elk numbers have not met F&G objectives for several years and CWD has hurt the deer population in the last 2 years. But there is less pressure from predators.
I am 71 and have taken enough animals with guns in my earlier years. I am a flatlander and live in Louisiana 7 months a year and the other 5 months in Orofino ID. 10A (Dworshak) is not a wilderness area so there isn't a heavy predator pressure. In the past 7 years I have seen one wolf and a...
Thank you, as long as everything is reported to IDFG at the time of the transfer. It serves a valid purpose but I don't doubt that there are many states out there that would not try to accomodate their hunters.
I have an Idaho non-resident, unit 10A (Dworshak) rifle Elk tag (Oct. 10, 2023 - Nov. 3,2023) that I wish to trade for an Elk Archery tag, non-resident in unit 10A (Aug. 30, 2023 - Sept. 30, 2023). Call Bill @ (337) 501-0078.
Glad you got your buck that you shot at. I admire your willingness to take the challenge of creating your own longbow. To me the challenge in archery is the patience and maneuvering needed to get within good kill range of an animal with extraordinary senses such as an elk or a mature buck. I...
Excellent read, and Congrats! Sometimes things just work out. I hunted public access property in Idaho and shot a cow the first season but as I was waiting for her to hopefully bed down and expire, about 30 minutes had passed and it started raining hard. I was torn between giving her time and...
