What do you guys recommend to get this scope mounted farther back on this Remington 700? As you can see I'm maxed out with these Leupold rings. Unfortunately my wife can't zoom beyond 3x magnification without seeing the black ring in her field of view. -

Backpack hunting gear for kids
Love this thread. Check out the brand Reima - our 4 year old and 1 year old practically live in their "outdoor jumpsuits" all winter. They have good rainsuits/waterproof shells as well. Also, hand warmers and toe warmers always come in handy. Keep us posted on your hunts!- MADGRZ

Freeze Dried Meals
On my 5-day backcountry hunt last year I brought PACKIT GOURMET. I like the concept of combining the freeze-dried meals with something not freeze-dried....a real pita, tortillas, etc - makes it feel like you're eating normal food.- MADGRZ

Tarp Camping
One of my favorite aspects of sleeping under a tarp is there is no false sense of security like a tent provides. I'm talking about grizz country after dark. From under a tarp it's much easier to deploy spray/41 mag/flare if needed.- MADGRZ

who actually knows how to use a map and compass
I'm interested in hearing what others have to say. I had one experience climbing Chief Mountain in Glacier Park where a midday fog rolled in and visibility went to nothing. I ended up summiting and then on the hike out took the wrong drainage, and after an hour or two realized nothing looked...- MADGRZ
