I don't know if you're non-resident hunter or not. If you are in 5 years it will take five more points for a non-resident. 15 years ago I was hoping to draw unit 10. I was your one year behind the curve. Now I'm 2 years behind.
Every site I look at for archery elk info for GMU 61 in Co. points towards a steady decline in the quality of the elk in the unit. I am hoping to draw an archery elk tag this fall for GMU 61. Show me your archery elk/muzzleloader elk success photos for the past number of years. Say from 2018...
i could be wrong, but my understanding is that all atv's/utv's must have a trail sticker on Forest service roads & BLM roads. Not just non-residents. cost is around $25
Assuming that I draw an archery elk tag for GMU 61 this fall, "Do I haul my Polaris ATV to Colorado?" I have heard yes from 1 hunter. I have heard no from another. I have never been in the unit, so I don't know the terrain or regulations. It would be licensed and insured.
I archery elk hunted South of Walden in 2022. My hunting friend from Granby showed me a disturbing video. His friend took his son for his first antelope hunt (near Walden). Poor shot placement. They had to leave the antelope over night. When they got there to retrieve the antelope the next...
This is the only archery elk I have killed in the snow. 2005. It's a much different hunt with snow. Easier to find to find. Much harder to hunt. NO rut. Always in a larger group with many eyes.
Stupid question: If I draw, "How do I message you or e-mail you? I am disappointed with the site administrator(s). I have reached out twice and no response from them.
Thanks for the reply. I appreciate the direct, honest info. There are a few out there that just want to trash talk or bash you. In general I have been impressed with the exchange of info. The picture below is the bull elk I killed in 2020. My trail camera "got" him as he exploded after the...
I'm new as well. Mark Anderson from Brandon, SD. I am an avid bowhunter. I will be applying for and archery elk tag in Colorado GMU 61 this spring. I have never set foot in the unit. I am 65 and in the best shape of my life. No I can't compete with myself 25 years ago. Maybe 15 years ago...
I was introduced into archery hunting a couple of years too late. I started whitetail hunting in 1987. I joined a local bowhunting club. One of the best decisions I have ever made! Long story short: I heard about Colorado's preference system and started accumulation points 2 years too late...
