I’m glad to see some regulations moving away from PFAS stuff. Hopefully companies will be able to develop some quality alternatives that will be better for the environment.
It’s good that they’re fixing things as they come up, but their lack of barrel length restrictions is glaring for sure. Guess when I shoot mine I’ll need to double check the darn thing is still there.
Given you have $600 left to spend, you could probably find a decent tent and a puffy. Might have to do some bargain hunting but that’s what I’d try to do.
I'm sure other experts can chime in on their preferences, but my rule of thumb is a faster twist like 1:28 is better when shooting conical bullets with polymer bases like a Powerbelt or Hornady Bore Driver. A slower twist rifle like 1:50 would be my choice if i was shooting a round ball or pure...
You may already know this, but that photo is the breech plug from older model CVA's. If you were to buy one at the store today it would be the "QRBP" breech plug and look like this.
Then, the BH 209 breech plug would have a larger flash hole as seen below.
