I looked at the Sig's a lot, and liked them slightly better. I ended up with the Vortex Ranger 1800. I liked the feel in my hand/build better, and lifetime warranty on the electronics is incredibly hard to beat.
After a year in the field with it I'm not disappointed at all.
Input your data in a few ballistics calculators and see what they output. If you're zeroed at 200 and more than a few inches high at 100, I might want to be looking at my scope height to adjust that...
Anyone ran the Optika 6 series? The Optika6 3-18x50 FFP seems to tick a lot of boxes that I'd like to have in my next scope. I run the Cabela's Instinct binos and love them, so interested to use more of Meopta's stuff.
I'm a fan of the Kuiu PRO harness for my 10x42 Meoptas, but not sure I'd want to go up to the XL version for those 15's.
Side note: I also just bought the new Stone Glacier harness for a pair of 10x28's I have, and love how adjustable it is for smaller binocs. Will make a great setup for...
Mystery Ranch Marshall on Guide Light Frame (Not MT) - Love the space, organization, and the bottom compartment for sleeping bags. Weight seems to be a bit high.
Kuiu PRO 3600 is my go to for day hunts, and haven't tried the 6000 bag I bought for it this year. Love the weight of the packs and...
I've used the MSR Miniworks on many backpacking trips, and it is slow, but doesn't seem to have the need to be cleaned as often as others. For those of you using gravity systems, how often are you having to clean or backflush the filter? My inherent thought is that relative surface area is...
Is elevation more of a consideration in that area, or just finding food, cover, does, etc? I'm assuming in October they're just starting to think about moving out of higher ground.
I really like my Kuiu Pro 3600 for big day hunts. Compact frame, but capable of hauling a load out when the need arises. The hip belt on the newest models is really, really comfortable.
If you're set against having a true rain pant, and already have Kuiu stuff, why not look at the Axis or Talus hybrids? I have the Talus and they are waterproof below the knee and in the seat. Sounds kind of like what you are looking for, and a comfy pant. I chose the Talus over the Axis...
Gents, I am on a General D license as well, and coming in from Missouri. I'm actually headed out next weekend to do some scouting, and would love to hear about any past experiences or suggestions to key in on. This is my first DIY hunt, so still learning here.
Main decision for me will be...
Headed that direction as well. Actually going to be in the area next weekend trying to do some scouting. Would love to hear anyone's experiences out there. First DIY hunt for me, so expectations of success are low, but hoping to gain some experience.
