I make a brine that has garlic and pickling spices in it. It sits in there for five days.
The rub is caraway, black pepper, garlic powder and ground coriander. Low smoke, 160 to 175 degrees. After several hours I will bring it up to 200 to finish. Goal is an internal temp of 155 to 160...
I just ordered the hunter rail, which appears to be a longer version of yours. I temporarily mounted a short arca, using the accessory screw. It is awesome with a tripod. Can't wait to have one actually made for the tikka.
Figured I'd do an update on this. I ended up making the bags using a1.6oz ripstop nylon. Cost me around 30 bucks to make four bags that are large enough for elk rear quarters.
What an incredible material. They hauled out nine deer so far. Zero signs of any wear and tear. Does a great job...

Great, great post! Thank you for sharing.

She started hunting last year at age 57. She got her first deer that year, a 3x3 muley. She practiced shooting all year this year. Prone, off the pack, tripod, and trekking poles.
For this season she wanted a knife so she could help field dress her harvest. She was all in.
Well...
Ah reminds of my days in massachusetts. Good time.
Get rid of paper bags and stop killing trees. Then get rid of plastic bags because we are killing the environment. So everyone ran out and got cloth bags. Ban cloth bags because the covid germscould be on them, so back to plastic bags. I'm...
Are tents like potato chips? You can't just have one? I can't believe I just purchased another one. Between wall tents, bivies, tipi tents, hildeberg rough weather tent, car camping, and everything in between, I'm now up to six. Seven if I include a tarp. Uggh.
